Muiris Ó Dálaigh
Muiris Ó Dálaigh [1910-1990]
Muiris Ó Dálaigh was better known as 'Deálaí'. His mother died when he was very young, after which he went to live on the mainland with his aunt. He was a fine accordion player and singer whose individual style was sought after by the Islanders.
Deálaí particularly liked to play the slides and polkas which are such a notable feature of the West Kerry set-dancing tradition. He spent many a night entertaining the Islanders in their homes, sometimes leaving down his accordion to sing in his fine solo voice.
